Isaac Ing

I am a planner who approaches design through both data and human experiences, driven by a belief that thoughtful planning begins with understanding how people move, connect, and live.

At Ascent, my work has centered on making sense of complex data, whether it’s aggregating census figures, analyzing housing permits, or interpreting community surveys. I support the rollout of new housing policies, ADU programs, and objective design standards, focusing on consistency with local laws and planning frameworks. I also use GIS to create land use maps, support general plan alternatives analysis, and evaluate eligibility for state housing and climate programs.

I enjoy volunteering at community events, such as community theatres, architecture tours, urbanism forums, and Pride. I bike to work regularly and love participating in local races as a runner and a volunteer. I love exploring new cities, usually with a sketchbook in hand and always by train. It’s one of my favorite ways to people-watch! One of the greatest human experiences to me is witnessing people come together and make cities feel connected and alive.
