Rancho Cucamonga General Plan and Climate Action Plan

Ascent assisted the City of Rancho Cucamonga with preparation of its Climate Action Plan as a companion to the General Plan, which articulates the City’s vision of a 21st century world-class community and lays out a set of strategies to achieve the community’s vision for the future. The CAP’s measures to reduce the community’s contributions to climate change are grounded in the General Plan’s core community values of Health, Equity, and Stewardship. The CAP presents an ambitious set of measures that achieve the City’s 2030 and 2040 targets, predominantly focused on vehicle travel and building energy use, and are targeted at new development, the existing built environment, and City government operations. The CAP includes an implementation program using a phased approach in which implementation actions for CAP measures are adopted by 2025, as well as identifies potential funding sources to support implementation. Ascent also assisted the City with preparation of its CAP Consistency Checklist, which describes how new development will be required to implement CAP measures.
