Ascent assisted the City of Encinitas with developing its Climate Action Plan update, which identified the various direct and indirect effects of climate change on the city; the degree to which the city would be impacted by these effects; the populations, functions, and structures most vulnerable; and the level of existing or planned adaptation planning efforts to mitigate climate change. Based on the findings of the vulnerability assessment, adaptation policies were developed to improve the city’s resiliency to increased temperatures, sea level rise, increased wildfire risk, and less reliable water supply.
