Julia Wilson

I cannot remember a time when the health of the environment wasn’t at the forefront of my mind. Growing up in Sacramento, I spent countless weekends with my father taking day trips to the Sierra Nevada to climb mountains and seek adventure throughout California’s beautiful network of trails. That exposure molded my sense of appreciation for the intrinsic value of nature and motivates me in all my decision making, and ultimately led me to my current career. I declared my major at the beautiful UC Santa Barbara on my first day and never looked back. At that time, I thought I would become an expert in water management, but over time I became more interested in atmospheric sciences. My role at Ascent is to critically analyze a project’s contribution of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions and to develop mitigation strategies to minimize that contribution using complex and individualized best practices and technologies. The greatest joys of my job are that I can end each day feeling not only that I have exercised my mind but that I’ve contributed positively to the world.

In my free time, I enjoy backpacking, hiking, yoga, cycling, and cuddling my three beautiful cats.
