Heather Valentine

As a senior biologist living and working primarily in Lake Tahoe, I feel fortunate to be able to immerse myself in the environment that I am striving to better understand. My environmental career has been spent diving into the complexities of our natural world and using my scientific expertise and experience to help guide projects that act to restore and preserve our natural environment while also making it accessible to the public.

What makes my work truly fulfilling is collaborating with a great group of colleagues, doing well-informed, thorough, and creative work focused on moving positive projects forward.

When the workday winds down, I transition into family life. I enjoy spending time outside with my family and friends, mountain biking, hiking, skiing, hanging at the beach, or walking my dog. I also coach my son’s Little League baseball team, manage my daughter’s soccer team, and am an active board member on the PTA. However, playing in the mountains is an integral part of how I connect with the landscape and brings me closer to this extraordinary place I call home.
