Alex Herr, RPF

I have always enjoyed working in land management and natural resources while contemplating how we as humans interact with landscapes. I enjoy figuring out the puzzle and getting the pieces together to solve challenging problems that span large areas. Sure, I like working with trees, but I also think in terms of watersheds, ecosystems, geographic regions, elevations, climate, vegetation communities, wildfire risk, management history, and project feasibility and effectiveness.

I have assisted with numerous forest health grants, designed and implemented hundreds of miles of shaded fuel breaks, inventoried and analyzed carbon sequestration projects, managed hydroelectric vegetation and hazard tree projects, and mitigated the impacts of wildfire throughout the North Coast, North Bay, and Northern Sierra.
Here at Ascent, I am working to help with future land planning as it relates to forestry, including fuels reduction treatments, forest management plans, and wildfire risk analysis and mitigation projects.

I am an avid kayaker, river enthusiast, skier, and climber and enjoy spending my free time with my family enjoying the natural beauty of California and its wild landscapes.
