Andrew Martin

When I started my career, I wasn’t totally sure what to focus on but thought it would have something to do with affordable housing. But very quickly I became aware of and concerned about climate change specifically and many environmental problems generally. I never looked back.

Over the last 18 years, I’ve written, managed, and overseen numerous plans, strategies, and documents to advance climate action and protect the environment. Much of this work has been in the San Diego region, but my experience extends to Riverside and Orange Counties, the Inland Empire, the Central Coast, and the Sacramento region. I’ve helped public agencies by overseeing climate action and adaptation plans for cities, counties, and regional planning agencies and managing CEQA environmental review documents for community-scale plans, large-scale development projects, and active transportation improvements. A lot of technical analysis and jargon is involved in this type of work, but I pride myself on translating the results into plain language that decision-makers and everyday people can relate to and use to make their communities better and improve people’s lives.

Outside of work my priority is my family. We like to explore San Diego, travel to new places, and try new foods together. My favorite way to start the day is with a HIIT workout at 5:30 a.m.
