Andrea Shephard, PhD

I’m a seasoned professional with a strong focus on water resources, infrastructure development, and marine resource protection. As a child, I spent a significant amount of time exploring ponds, beaches, and the ocean, which helped me develop a profound appreciation for the beauty and complexity of freshwater and marine ecosystems. As I grew older, I realized that I wanted to pursue a career that would allow me to use my passion for water resources to make a positive impact on the environment. Throughout my career, I have successfully managed and executed a wide range of water-related projects, including leading and managing environmental review processes for marine resource protection initiatives, water recycling programs, water supply systems, wastewater treatment plants, and other infrastructure projects, including dams and levees, to comply with CEQA and NEPA. As someone who enjoys design challenges and understands engineering principles, I bring a unique perspective to the projects I manage. I take great pride in being able to work closely with engineers helping to improve the sustainability, cost-effectiveness, and environmental protectiveness of their designs to meet project requirements.

In addition to my technical expertise, I am also an avid sports enthusiast and thrive in a team environment. I have actively participated in various sports, including soccer, underwater hockey, sprint triathlon, and rowing/crew, which have honed my teamwork and leadership skills. You can often find me outdoors, as being close to nature brings me immense joy and inspiration. I enjoy cycling, camping, kayaking, and scuba diving, as these activities allow me to connect with the environment on a deeper level. This deep connection with nature further fuels my commitment to water resources management and conservation, as I believe in protecting our precious natural resources for future generations.
